Rick was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas and has always had a competitive nature. He played most sports growing up and has a strong desire to win in everything he gets involved in. At 18 he played in his first professional tournament, (turning Pro just hours before the tournament). Although he didn’t win, he was runner-up against one of the top professionals in the game. In business he had the same competitive fire, he became the top salesman nationally in only his 2nd month. A year later Rick started his first business. He put Blackjack tables in nightclubs, playing for fun. Later he took his first trip to Las Vegas and discovered Blackjack Tournaments. He won his first two tables and the 2nd Session (winning a $1,000 bonus) at the Legendary Desert Inn and was hooked. Later Rick went a step further and started his own tournaments and promoting them throughout the country and on cruise ships. Rick loves playing and promoting tournaments. He has played on TV several times and was a finalist in the World Series of Blackjack on GSN. This is when he first started thinking how nice it would be to host tournaments back in Texas. Rick knows and plays with several of the best players in the world including most of the famous M.I.T. Blackjack team and several top poker professionals.
After a bad auto accident, he had neck surgery which knocked him out of commission for a while. While recouping he started playing tabletop shuffleboard at a local sports bar and found out about the major tournaments they held nationwide, and his competitive nature took over. After several years playing and practicing he decided to move up and play professionally, (Yes Professional Tabletop Shuffleboard). Rick said he’ll never forget his first professional tournament. As he and his partner were announced to the crowd, the announcer commented, “This would be a good team if Rick wasn’t on it”. Rick and his partner ended up winning not only this tournament, but 3 out of the next 4 major tournaments and got 3rd place on the other one, including 1st in the North American Championships in Reno, (Basically the World’s Best Players).
In August 2019 he was in another bad auto accident which knocked him out of commission for about a year, no sooner did he come back, he was hit again (December 2020) and lost close to another year. Just 10 days after his last surgery (August 2021), Rick was rear ended while stopped at a red light. All these accidents weren’t his fault and all hit by drunk drivers. During these years laid up is when Rick came up with the idea and started designing the company “Mav-Rick”. Then the Pandemic caused more dead time where he came up with his format and 100% legal tournaments.
These Mav-Rick Tournaments will not only promote every business that advertises on the Mav-Rick website but will allows the businesses a full 100% tax deduction, a chance to make between 5 – 10 times ROI (return on investment), if not more depending on how they promote the seats give aways. And allows the businesses to offer Bonus incentives to their customers to get to play for a share of the Mav-Rick $100,000 prize money, (in a tournament “No One” is allowed to buy-into). That’s right, No Entry Fees, these tournaments are designed for our customers and our customers, customers.
